North Dakota Governor Signs Remote Online Notary Bill

ND_RONNorth Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum recently signed House Bill 1110 into law enabling remote online notarizations (RON).

The bill, which revises the state’s Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA), goes into effect Aug. 1, 2019. The Secretary of State must promulgate rules before remote online transactions can be performed in the state.

North Dakota joins 17 other states that recognize some form of RON, including Arizona, Indiana, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
