#GoodDeeds: Proper Giving

Proper TitleThroughout the year, Illinois-based Proper Title donates a percentage from each closing (purchase and refinance) to its charitable arm Proper Giving foundation.

Jayne Corcoran, marketing director for Proper Title, said the company donates the money to Chicagoland philanthropic organizations. In 2019, Proper Title donated $45,000.

One of the title company’s main benefactors is Ann & Robert H. Lurie’s Children’s Hospital, which received $25,000 in March. Corcoran said they divided the donation to areas where the hospital needed funds the most. A portion was used as a matching donation for their annual walk, Move for Kids, that had to be held virtually.

T.J. Johnson, vice president of corporate partnerships for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation, thanked Proper Title for their continued support.

“Although we pivoted to a virtual event this year, our community rallied once again to raise more than $293,000 to date,” Johnson wrote. “Proper Title’s generosity helped us surpass our goal to ensure that children can access the healthcare they deserve despite the global health crisis we’re all experiencing. Contributions to this year’s event benefit our COVID-19 Support Fund, which enables us to keep our workforce safe and to secure the supplies required to deliver exceptional care to the patients and families we serve. On behalf of Lurie Children’s, we greatly appreciate Proper Title’s dedicated partnership. Even through these trying times, we are reassured that the generous spirit of our community continues to thrive.”

Packing the Trunk

Title HoustonTitle Houston hosted a food drive and provided two trunks full of 235 pounds of food and $2,000 to benefit the East Spring Branch Food Pantry in Houston, Texas.

In addition, Title Houston said it is grateful to its building's "front line" team.

“Our security guards and custodial team work hard each day and have done even more these past two months with additional duties to clean and sanitize the office deeper and more often,” said Anna Russell, Title Houston’s marketing administrator. “Extra work in difficult circumstances to keep our building and common areas safe and clean.”
